Arts and Sciences   French (FR)     FR:105   Elementary French I   4 cr. A foundation course which covers the fundamentals of French language and culture. The course is designed for the student with no knowledge of the language. The communication skills of reading, writing and speaking will be developed to aid the student in oral proficiency. Each unit will deal with specific aspects of French culture. This course satisfies a general education requirement in the Cultural-Historical Perspectives Area. (79.2 Lec. Hrs.)     FR:110   Elementary French II   4 cr. Designed for the student who has some knowledge of French language and culture. Oral communication is stressed with further emphasis on grammar and selected readings in the history, literature and culture of France. This course satisfies a general education requirement in the Cultural-Historical Perspectives Area. (79.2 Lec. Hrs.) Prerequisite: FR:105 or equivalent.     FR:205   Intermediate French I   3 cr. Provides a thorough review of the patterns of basic French grammar with emphasis on the development of speaking, writing and understanding the French language, literature and culture. This course satisfies a general education requirement in the Cultural-Historical Perspectives Area. (59.4 Lec. Hrs.) Prerequisite: FR:110 or 2-3 years of high school French.     FR:210   Intermediate French II   3 cr. Provides a reinforcement of basic skills with emphasis on conversation, composition, literary readings, French culture and review of grammar as needed. This course satisfies a general education requirement in the Cultural-Historical Perspectives Area. (59.4 Lec. Hrs.)
